The phrase 'pick up where we left off' is a perfectly correct and usable phrase in written English
Generally speaking, it is used when continuing a conversation or activity which was suspended or interrupted at an earlier time. For example, if two friends had been discussing something, but had to suddenly stop because of a time constraint, then one friend might say to the other, "Let's pick up where we left off sometime soon."
